hi!
Suziannie
I'm going to put my site as an example so I'll explain things more clearer.
Please am not here to promote my site to you but just to give you an idea about back linking, inbound linking and reciprocal linking, I know technical issues can be very hard to understand so I'm giving you my own experience about the terms you mentioned above.
Inbound Linking:
These are Links that are pointing to another website. When a user arrives at a website from another site, that link is called an Inbound Link. For example from my blog: http://lxmjd.blogspot.com there is a link pointing to my main site at: http://sites.google.com/site/linkxmulti. So when you are at my blog site and when you click the link its going to take you to my LinkXMulti site.
Reciprocal Linking:
When two Webmaster or website owners agree to share their links by placing them on their own website.
Back Linking:
It is simply a technique used to make your website rank high at Google's top 10 ranking page.
For example: You made your main site and later you created other six sites that have the links from your main site. Your main site does not have any links from your six websites you created.
So when you see it, it looks exactly like a spider web, where you main site is right at the middle of the web and the other sites are pointing links to your main website.
Hope this helps.

i am not sure i understand linking. I know back links are top priority. I There are reciprocal links. There are inbound links.
I just can not get this clear in my mind what it really means vs the terms I hear and read
